Are Christians Fantasists?

We believe in angels, demons, the end of the world.
We believe in both predictable scientific cause and effect and that God answers prayer.
We're seemly obsessed by C.S. Lewis and Tolkien, while we mostly continue to live our apparently mundane lives.

What exactly do Christians believe or do, or what are they, which actually makes a difference to the daily living of life?

I suspect that the thesis in this intentionally provocative post isn't the clearest but if you think so, do spell out exactly why it's muddled ...

Obvious answer: no. Historical Israel, Historical Christ and Resurrection, Historical Church, Historical End of the World.

Obvious reply: yes. You have no direct access to these historical events. Anyone can accept an historical Israel, Christ and Church. But the average Christian has no direct access to the supernatural.

Experienced Christianity today is mostly about viewing the world through an interpretative framework, which says that God was at work here in his providence or in answer to prayer, occasionally through 'chance event' but mostly through human agency.

Why is this not troubling for the Christian who puts such import on the supernatural basis of his/her religion?
